Now that her consular training is done, my girl owner spends her day at something called “main state” and doesn’t get home until almost six o’clock every night. That means I have a lot of time on my paws and I’ve decided that since I’m going to be a diplopet, I need to learn some new skills to help me when we’re at post.
Because I’m going to be meeting a lot of new people, the first thing I needed to learn was how to shake hands. I couldn’t do it alone, so I employed the help of my boy owner. It took a lot of biscuits and a lot of patience, but I think I’ve finally figured it out.

Just between you and me, I actually figured out this whole shaking thing pretty quickly. I was dragging it out because I kept getting more food. Don’t tell my owners.
Abbey, you’re brilliant! My cat Beej has been learning some diplomatic skills too. He used to be grumpy and not participate whenever I had a dinner party, but now he comes out and chats with all the guests. Although usually his definition of chatting with the guests means sitting in their laps and begging for food. But hey, he’s being adorable!
Well done Abbey! And great job working the system for extra treats
If you ever need a place to stay while the people are out and you happen to be posted where we are, we’d be happy to have you as our guest.
good going Abby…gosh, I sure miss you , also your boy and girl owners
